Bin Trim

The Bin Trim program provides free support and advice to NSW businesses to maximise recycling and minimise waste to landfill.

Roughly 70 per cent of items in a business’s general waste bin can be reused or recycled. From cardboard, paper and plastic through to food waste – so much of this ends up in the general waste bin, when it could be avoided, reused or recycled. Diverting recyclable material from general waste can also reduce waste costs to a business.

A trained Bin Trim assessor is able to work with businesses to identify areas where waste could be turned into a resource, for example, one businesses off cuts or excess could be feed stock for another business and on-sold, creating a benefit for both businesses.

Businesses who undergo a Bin Trim assessment with a trained Bin Trim assessor may also be eligible for rebates between $1,000 and $50,000 to help with the purchase price of recycling equipment.

This project is an initiative of the NSW Environment Protection Authority under the NSW Government’s Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy, and is funded from the waste levy.
