Education
The Halve Waste campaign was established in 2010 to deliver the target of halving the region’s waste to landfill by 2020.
Halve Waste continues to be active across the RAMJO region, partnering with local councils to deliver community waste education and public awareness campaigns when a Council introduces new waste and recycling services.
Schools Education
Halve Waste, in partnership with Petaurus Education Group deliver curriculum linked waste and recycling in-schools sessions focusing on how to recycle, what goes in each bin, how to use FOGO and landfill tours.
Schools in the Local Council areas of Balranald, Berrigan, Carrathool, Edward River, Hay, Griffith, Leeton, Murray River, Murrumbidgee, Narrandera and Wentworth are able to access waste and resource recovery education sessions delivered by Petaurus Education Group.
These sessions are provided free of charge to interested schools and can be customised to meet the meet the requirements of the school.
This project is an initiative of the NSW Environment Protection Authority under the NSW Government’s Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy, and is funded from the waste levy.
