With the increase of electronic items containing embedded batteries, there has been an increase in reported battery-related fires which occur in garbage and recycling trucks, recycling centres and landfills.
Batteries, both loose (AA, AAA, button batteries) and Embedded Batteries (such as cordless electronic devices, smart watches and vapes) must never be placed in any at home kerbside bin.
Batteries need to be disposed of correctly at CRCs or in-store locations (such as supermarkets and hardware stores).
