RAMJO aim to advance environmental sustainability across the RAMJO region by supporting local stewardship, regional partnerships, and circular economy initiatives that protect natural assets, enhance liveability, and strengthen resilience to climate and land use pressures by adopting the following actions:
Support Local Environmental Stewardship
- Promote community-led environmental programs that protect biodiversity, watercourses, native vegetation, and local habitats
- Coordinate awareness campaigns that showcase good agricultural, horticultural, and land management practices
Enable Circular Economy and Waste Collaboration
- Facilitate the development of regional waste and recycling strategies that improve outcomes and reduce costs
- Advocate for state investment in waste recovery infrastructure and circular economy innovation in rural areas
- Support councils to comply with upcoming waste reform and product stewardship obligations
Embed Sustainability in Planning and Infrastructure
- Advocate for the integration of sustainability principles into regional land use, infrastructure, and growth planning
- Encourage urban greening, heat mitigation, and water-sensitive design initiatives in council strategies and capital works
